Eating late is NEVER a good idea...

Start Weight: 168 lbs
Goal Weight: 138 lbs

Weight after two loading days:  171.7 lbs (3.7 lbs total gain)
R2P2D8:  162.9  (-8.8 lbs gross, -5.1 lbs net)

Down only 0.7 lbs this morning.  I'm going to chalk that up to eating too late.  When will I ever learn???  But -- a loss is a loss, no matter how small.  (I'm turning in to Dr. Seuss! ;-)  I'm not going to beat myself up over it.

Gosh, I just reread my first sentence and realize how silly that is... ONLY 0.7?  What am I saying???  On what other diet are you going to average losing 0.7 lbs in a day?  Seriously.  I need to get a grip.  This HCG spoils you.  I now chuckle when I hear a commercial for a weight-loss program boasting that you can lose a pound a week...  If only they knew...

So, here is my extremely short tip for the day: celebrate ANY losses, no matter how small!

On to the menu...
8:30a:      ACV concoction
10a-1p:    Sipping coffee with hazelnut stevia
2p:           Cream of asparagus soup (will explain this below)*
8p:           Steamed broccoli* with salt and juice of lemon wedge
8:30p:       Nonfat plain greek yogurt* mixed with Vanilla Stevia,
diced strawberries, and topped with crumbled Melba

* OFF PROTOCOL WARNING!

  • Mixing veggies
  • Broccoli not on the approved list of foods
  • Nonfat plain greek yogurt is one of my vegetarian substitutions for protein

Ahhhh.... the cream of asparagus soup...  just the memory of eating it sends shivers down my spine!  It was yummy! I am no cook, but I'm very proud of myself with this recipe. That said, it was SO good and filling that I am now scared that I overdid it. I need to work on the recipe, and see how the scale treats me in the morning. I really need to measure out the ingredients so that I can figure out the exact calories and exactly how much to eat in a single serving. I'll work on that and -- if all is well -- I will post the recipe for you in the near future. The main ingredients were asparagus, onion, garlic and nonfat cottage cheese. It was thick, creamy and yummy. Only off-protocol thing was mixing the onion and the asparagus, I believe. My biggest thing I need to figure out is what exactly constitutes a "serving" of asparagus. I don't think that the protocol specifies this. At least, not that I see. Up until this point, I haven't really measured any of my veggies, but I stick mostly to the very low calorie ones such as lettuces, raw spinach, and cucumbers. When I eat tomato, it isn't a whole tomato but a slice or two. So, I've just kind of eyeballed it up until this point. I know that the goal is to hit 500 calories without going over, so perhaps your veggie servings are dictated by what you have for your proteins and fruits for the day?

This is also the very first time that I have eaten asparagus on this diet.  I didn't eat it for all of Round 1.  My menus were rather boring in Round 1.  I didn't do a lot of experimenting with recipes and such.  So, if my weight loss stalls tomorrow, I won't really know if it was the asparagus or the portion size of the soup.  Let's hope that the numbers look good, because I DEFINITELY want to eat this soup again!  And I want to share it with you!

One thing I especially want to note today... you may notice that I've only had one of my ACV concoctions today.  Well, I drank it first thing this morning with my vitamins and my bio-identical thyroid medication (as usual) but shortly afterward I felt VERY nauseous.  I know that some of you are thinking 'Well if I drank 16 ounce of water laced with vinegar and downed my vitamin supplements on an empty stomach, I would feel nauseous too!'  I guess that I have an iron stomach, because this is what I do most every day (sans the ACV until very recently, though) because my thyroid medication must be taken on an empty stomach with a lot of water.  I usually throw in a couple of my vitamin supplements, too, just to get that started for the day.  It could have just been too much with the ACV.  I was rather heavy-handed pouring it this morning.  Also, just before the nausea, I had gotten really sleepy and kind of dozed for about 20 minutes.  Not sure what was up with that.  So, between the sleepiness and the nausea, I didn't feel too good.  And (sorry if this is TMI, but I want to document everything) after the intense nausea, I had some diarrhea as well.  Mind you, this was before I had my HCG injection, so I don't believe that any of it was directly related to the HCG.  Anyway, after about an hour, I started feeling better and took my HCG injection around 9:30a and started on my coffee.  I felt perfectly fine for the rest of the day.

Tune in tomorrow to see what the scale brings!  Til then, LATER LOSERS!  :D
